Abby Poulson

Abby Poulson is a photographic artist, young curator and producer currently based in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Employing camera-less techniques, alternative processes, installation and sculpture, Abby uses her process broadly and experimentally to explore ideas surrounding her homeland, whilst also responding to themes surrounding welsh identity, environmental concerns, the rural, memory and place. Here’s Abby photographed at her studio at Elysium Gallery, with is her latest publication The Gathering Ground.

Prior to the opening of Birdhouse, I visited Abby Poulson at her studio. Abby was one of the recipients of the Affordable Artist Studio Scheme, which Elysium used to support their community of artists during the pandemic, and found herself in Elysium after graduating from Swansea College of Art in 2020. Abby is a photographic artist and emerging curator, and uses alternative photographic processes to respond to ideas surrounding Wales and its rural landscape. Here Abby is also photographed with her recent self published photo book, The Gathering Ground.
